Search for the suitable plot of land
We spent two years looking at lots of houses and plots of land until we found this plot of land with a ruined farm on it, which was ideal for our purposes. We were immediately enthusiastic and immediately analyzed whether the plot was large enough to be able to implement a sustainable ecosystem, whether the land could be used for agriculture and whether the surrounding plots were also predominantly used for agriculture in order to maintain the overall appearance of the landscape structure. It was also important to us that the property should be accessible from all sides of the island in order to make access as easy as possible for workers, sales partners, customers and guests.
Initially, we were quite skeptical because it seemed unlikely that we had actually found a perfect plot and the old farmhouse looked very desolate from the outside. But we soon realized that we were extremely lucky and that the old house had a respectable structure and could therefore be renovated.
The mill and the Safreig (water basin) on the property are listed buildings, so both must be preserved in their historical substance. We want to divide up the water basin, with one part being used as a pool and the other as a sunbathing terrace, with the basin under the terrace serving as a water reservoir for watering the plants.
